Incidental Discovery

He is one of those people u meet in life and realise everything happens for a reason, he can only “happen” you. To really know him can’t be an utter chance of life, it’s pure destiny! He is the glow of life, one that will lead you the right way. He rubs off on you a beauty of life - one such, you never knew.
Someone who makes you want to let loose, uncannily putting people around him at ease; is one his best admired qualities. The comfort level that he has to offer, is one of the major reasons why he is always being surrounded by women. There is no day or night for him; he is always there to kick off that boring hour. His generosity knows no boundaries and his LOVE can stand any test of time. To know him, to feel his heart – one better be well versed with the language of silence and minimal communication; for he will talk about the whole world but the love he endlessly feels for you. Painfully revealing, he will keep his wounds covered with a plethora smiles and deeds , that will almost a make you forget that he ever cried! To know him, to read him - is to decipher a mystery.
With the beauty comes his flaws that are absolutely blinding, testing your patience of lifetime. Occasionally erractic by nature, disappearing for an entire day or more at times (when he connect with anyone around), he can easily keep you on your toes - times and again. He indulges in his sorrow, all alone and away from everyone. Shutting himself away, he is very testing keeping you worried.
He is a true friend’s test. Stubborn by choice, unpredictable and anonymous - knowing him to core, still at times makes one questions his knowledge about him.
It’s only after having travelled that far, a journey through his every feeling, u know u have an angel with a spark of a devil. He will not stay if u hold him and no religion can influence him, only Humanity is his book of order. Passionate about his dreams and focused to achieve them, his dedication is addictive and inspiring. From every bitter phase, he only grows for better from it.

He is a friend you never had, but a friend you always wanted. A one woman man, drifting away is not known to him. Honesty and loyalty are his virtues, he is that person you want to trust who will take you where you want to go when u have no one else to take you there. Trust is his primary benchmark quality for any relationship.

Immensely hard working, eternally confident and a fearless soul – beyond anyone’s hold; he is free! Free from within, free from without ….. He will make you laugh with all he has got and make you cry with all that you have got.

He . . .

The sun doesn’t shine anymore or have I blinded myself to the lights of life,
I look at him with many unanswered questions, unspoken words, unrevealed feelings and unsung songs.

I ask him is it day now? When my eyes search in his the answer to the darkness of our distances;
he wonders around in the space we share, yet his absence plays with my memories.

He is a journey within me, I see him and I am already thousands of miles away from this world.
He is as far as eternity and yet each time I see him, I know I have captured him with his moments.

what is WHAT!?

One of my friends quotes "Life is a bitch and Love is whore!"
(this quote prompted me to think a little beyond and I ended up having my version of it)
I quote "Life is whore, Love is a pimp!"

Life seems to be suddenly, helplessly at the mercy of our reckless, mean, crazy, innocent, mad, impulsive, ignorant, naive, irrational many others such splendid qualities and in the directions that our love or 'love' takes us. Somehow in the heart's and mind's gamble more often then not our life ends up either with guilt or total contentment about the choices made. It flows the way the thoughts and feelings go - love drags life to a point of no return, never turn back or from where all it wants it to return and most of the time it's too late. Either ways, we (well, most of us) end up f****** our life atleast once in this madness.

My LOVE!

RICHA DESAI

They call it a slice of water melon, a “dabba” and many other names that mean anything and everything “BIG”. All of that name game to mock its bulky structure, easily noticed yet only grabs attentions when a light starts flickering on its screen playing one my favourite songs, thanks to the loud volume.
32mb original capacity, bluetooth and every other facility most Nokia cell phones offered (except post 2003) is all available in my prized possession. I for one do not intend to choose a cell phone by ignoring its features. Nothing great in my case except that it has a recording option in its radio feature. Spot on! I said to myself, for I couldn’t be happier since it was to help me record songs played on radio. Yes, my music occupies almost all of its 256mb extended memory. Essentially a cell phone made for video game junkies, but who cares, all games erased – it’s all about the music.
Five years old yet young at heart – a library of beautiful music, heartfelt feelings ever shared and beautiful thoughts captured in solitude. A witness of life changing conversations and a small source of knowledge and wisdom -more than a gadget for its economic functions, it’s the other aspects that have got me stick with it. In this crazy world of fancy affordable inventions it’s easy to get tempted but my buddy always fulfilled its purpose without costing anything.
If ever a time comes to change it, my boredom will never support that reason. No matter how many weird glances it costs me when I speak over it, it’s never embarrassing as my family feels. Apart from occasional hangovers since a few months, it’s here to build my ever growing music collection. Nokia N-Gage is what it’s called.

No country for our men!

MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) in the month of Feburary 2008, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists come to blows with the Samajwadi Party (SP) workers, when the latter scheduled a rally at Dadar, Mumbai where MNS has a strong hold. 73 MNS activists and 19 SP workers were arrested for indulging in violence after Abu Asim Azmi SP leader made offensive speech, leading to a clash between the two.

Founded in 2006,MNS leader Raj Thankrey believing it to be a provocative act by SP to threaten the power of MNS at their own base. Calling it a“uncontrolled political and cultural dadagiri (thuggery)” of UP and Bihari migrants and other political leaders, MNS activists broke out violent acts against the north-Indians in various areas of Maharashtra. This lead to an arrest of the leaders of both the parties on the charges of instigating their party workers, who were later released on a bail.

Addressing the Chhath, Bihar’s most popular festival with degrading remark and covering this act with false logic, stoning the theatres showing Bhojpuri films, assaulting the office staff at Bombay Taximen’s Union and thrashing the innocent north-Indians in Maharashtra in day light are one of the reasons by the MNS to justify their take to protect the maharashtrians of the Maharashtra. This seeming to throw light on the long struggle our city our country needs to measure before it viewed as completely harmonial place. It surprising to know while in amidst of this, most of the local mumbaikars be it Marathi or not seem to completely disagree with the stand of MNS and fail to understand what justice MNS party is speaking of.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh condemning the MNS act has promised to protect the migrants in the state. BJP alleged Congress for deliberately not taking any measure to stop the violence, Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar claims there will be consequences. But what easily goes unnoticed is the financial state of the Maharashtra, with hundred of crore of rupees loss to the state due to a major migrant workers shift from Maharashtra back to their home town, mostly in the north. Last but not the least the innocent north Indian’s plight is still not heard by the state and the fear has only increased. Their protection needs to be of an outmost importance priority of the state. It’s not rocket science, it’s as simple as it can be, Mumbai a living entity in itself does not work only on the basis of the ‘big- money’ but also on the basis of the labour class. It goes without saying that the north Indians forms a large of chunk of the working economy, not for nothing Mumbai is considered a place where any small is possible. This one of the most expensive city of the world has risen to its standard owing a lot to this working class which makes the smallest of work possible, no price for guessing that if all the north Indian taxi drivers, auto drivers, pan wallas and other venders are abandoned the city will be at the best of its shock moments. For are there really as equal Marathi ‘manoos’ who are willing to take up the above mentioned jobs?

This problem is a state and national level problem, incapability of one state to offer jobs has many attributes to it and the migrants are not to be blamed by their native states inefficiency. A state owns it language status by its culture and it’s a human nature to adapt brilliantly to its surroundings be it anyone from anywhere, it less than a matter of time. Mumbai is a city whose virtue is acceptance; it doesn’t take much to blend in.

A country allows its citizens to move anywhere they choose. How can a North- Indian feel free to call his country his home when there is discrimination purely on the basis of illogical means and where the basic right to earn it violated? Most of the city is repelled to see a few people questioning the authenticity of people purely on the basis of language and origin where years of dedication is questioned, which has only helped the city more. MNS has logic the screams “It’s my way or highway!” but what it fails to understand is that it lacks the what it takes the nation to agree. Unity is the first motive of leadership; violence is simply an agitated and frustrated state of a few helpless bunch of fools.

White!

U walk in this swanky…high styled Italian Restaurant at Goregoan and you know you have arrived!! Yes, just another Italian joint?? Yet to find out but my crazy and restless nature seems to want to give into the ambience already and ditch my rationality!

Start me up! I thought to myself as obviously I could not wait to experience this place.
Okay this place reminds of Mikanos Island in Greece, all white everywhere! With exceptions of brown wooden interior concepts occupying spaces in bits and pieces with the Bar definitely standing out. In a Nutshell - Impressively minimalistic interiors. The evening was going down quite well. My friend I and were more interested in the food and so the regular beverage menu was fine with us, though they do have surprising list of wines which just adds to its style quotient.
Fritzo – Mitzo the starter of our choice - Itlaian flavoured smoked vegetables, with smoke essentially dominating the taste and aroma. Veg and non-veg starters not high on numbers, but great in offering a diverse list. We wanted to have a bit of everything and yet we went for the obvious options PASTA and PIZZA, leaving the rest on the menu for the next time. Pesto Cream our choice of pasta, equally good in texture and taste with green coloured sauce and herbs was certainly positive for us and the All Cheese Pizza was a great change with four different cheeses in one, super delight!

But the essence of the food can mislead people, since we are all use to eating the pizzas and pastas in the Indianised version - we seldom experience the true Italian flavour. So forget the “oh so mediocre” Indian ingrediants like cottage cheese, potatoes and all that jazz. This strictly is limited to those true connoisseurs of food and for those who have a penchant for experimentation.

Desserts, no disappointments here too! Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Ice Cream was simply splendid – I am a fan! I cannot believe I am so in love with this place, everything is just great. The staff is well versed with the details and service was quick, what else do you need!
By the way – one highlight that totally took over me was that the oven used here to make pizzas and the starters is made up of mango tree wood - very rare and no electric oven. Adding to its natural flavour and complimenting the taste! (no wonder)

WHITE – very bright in nature and looking at the people around one would not underestimate its “snob value” , as for those who thought great eating experience is limited to Bandra and beyond, you might want to come here and take a look and witness the slowly but surely changing trend.

Value for money is assured - with booze for two and the meal not more than Rs.2000 but considering the range of wines it might just go well over that
So go ahead and take chances!

To be or not to be - Yourself

Imagine a world with no absolutes and a dangling option left open to generations of humanity defending its will to live life the way it wants. Each place, era, race, society and person has had a mind of its own, collectively or individually influenced by its immediate surrounding and lifestyle factors. Now where here is the option of an eternal right or wrong? Nowhere or may be the answer to it so simple that it is at the receiving end of our ignorance and belief that an answer or even an opinion that such a complex thought can never in blazes be this simple.
Baichung Butia, the 31`year old, sole football pride of our country chose to not carry the Olympic torch or rather chose to support his belief system to hold up the Tibetians struggle for freedom. China the host country of the Olympics Games 2008 cannot possibly expect a smooth flow in its pre Olympic celebrations and is no exception to criticism and revolt. With the Tibetian struggle to surrender to China’s demand (Tibet currently in People’s Republic of China, known as Taiwan) remaining a current issue most importantly of the human rights violation, certainly will draw a world- wide debate. Baichung Bhutia being a famous sportsman does not have to be obliged to support his sport before his beliefs. His stand certainly screams his notions about his view of the entire China – Tibet war and why should it not?
Any kind of sport (amongst all other profession) is considered as one of the eternal and divine expression of one’s passion and it is our sheer love channelizing into the direction of what is our passion. Passion can be anything but the perception and code of respect and conduct dedicated to passions comes from one’s belief system and life defining unapologetic principles. So when Baichung Bhutia refuses to carry the Olympic torch, it directly reflects what he stands for. You would not enter the house of the biggest hooligan and a greatest sadist even if he has cooked your most favourite meal neither would you be obliged to please those who expect you to do so, unless you have no belief system and that you can be thrown anywhere by anyone. It’s obvious that the world will react to his stand – for or against, but for once whoever is against Bhutia’s stand must ask a question to himself - Is it really that honest to help held China its pride way high to sky when it is responsible for violating the beliefs I live for? Is it really accepted to me to see a nation violate freedom of human rights? This must have been the question he had to answer himself (I hope) and the answer to which is self justifying.
For those who challenge his stand certainly will continue to do so believing that profession is not personal but for those whose foundations are put to test will be willing to put to through fire their convictions, courage and very meaning of life. To be true one’s profession or life for that matter, each person has to know, realise and understand his own code of life, his own beliefs that shape his existence. From Nero to Hitler the world has witnessed mind numbing violations of human rights and for that to not continue will always require people to take a stand for what they believe in and if freedom is at question only the level tolerance is enough to recognise the love for it.
