U walk in this swanky…high styled Italian Restaurant at Goregoan and you know you have arrived!! Yes, just another Italian joint?? Yet to find out but my crazy and restless nature seems to want to give into the ambience already and ditch my rationality!
Start me up! I thought to myself as obviously I could not wait to experience this place.
Okay this place reminds of Mikanos Island in Greece, all white everywhere! With exceptions of brown wooden interior concepts occupying spaces in bits and pieces with the Bar definitely standing out. In a Nutshell - Impressively minimalistic interiors. The evening was going down quite well. My friend I and were more interested in the food and so the regular beverage menu was fine with us, though they do have surprising list of wines which just adds to its style quotient.
Fritzo – Mitzo the starter of our choice - Itlaian flavoured smoked vegetables, with smoke essentially dominating the taste and aroma. Veg and non-veg starters not high on numbers, but great in offering a diverse list. We wanted to have a bit of everything and yet we went for the obvious options PASTA and PIZZA, leaving the rest on the menu for the next time. Pesto Cream our choice of pasta, equally good in texture and taste with green coloured sauce and herbs was certainly positive for us and the All Cheese Pizza was a great change with four different cheeses in one, super delight!
But the essence of the food can mislead people, since we are all use to eating the pizzas and pastas in the Indianised version - we seldom experience the true Italian flavour. So forget the “oh so mediocre” Indian ingrediants like cottage cheese, potatoes and all that jazz. This strictly is limited to those true connoisseurs of food and for those who have a penchant for experimentation.
Desserts, no disappointments here too! Chocolate Fondant with Vanilla Ice Cream was simply splendid – I am a fan! I cannot believe I am so in love with this place, everything is just great. The staff is well versed with the details and service was quick, what else do you need!
By the way – one highlight that totally took over me was that the oven used here to make pizzas and the starters is made up of mango tree wood - very rare and no electric oven. Adding to its natural flavour and complimenting the taste! (no wonder)
WHITE – very bright in nature and looking at the people around one would not underestimate its “snob value” , as for those who thought great eating experience is limited to Bandra and beyond, you might want to come here and take a look and witness the slowly but surely changing trend.
Value for money is assured - with booze for two and the meal not more than Rs.2000 but considering the range of wines it might just go well over that
So go ahead and take chances!
